Privacy Policy

Last updated: 9 November 2025Scope: This Privacy Policy applies worldwide to your use of the Find Nearby app. Region-specific rights and disclosures (including for certain U.S. states) are provided below.1. Who We AreFind Nearby Ltd ("we", "our", "us") operates the Find Nearby mobile app ("the App"). We are registered in the United Kingdom.Company Name: Find Nearby Ltd
Address: 272 Bath Street, Glasgow, G2 4JR, United Kingdom
Email: [email protected]
For privacy questions or concerns, contact us at [email protected].2. Our Privacy CommitmentWe design Find Nearby with privacy in mind:* Minimal data: We only collect what’s needed to provide the App and show ads that keep it free.
* No location history: We don’t store your precise location on our own servers.
* Transparent ads: We use Google AdMob. If you consent, Google may personalise ads. If you don’t consent, we request non-personalised ads. Either way, Google still processes limited data (e.g., identifiers) for delivery, measurement, and fraud prevention.
* No contact access: When you share an invite, we use your device’s share sheet; we don’t read your contacts.
3. What Information Do We Collect?
a) Location Information (only with your permission)
What: Your device’s location when you grant permission.
How we use it:
* Core features: To show nearby amenities (e.g., benches, toilets, playparks) and distances.
* Ads: If you consent to personalised ads, Google may also use location signals for ad personalisation. If you do not consent, Google may still use coarse location (e.g., IP-based region) to deliver non-personalised ads and for measurement/fraud prevention.
Your control:* You can enable/disable location in your device settings at any time.
* You can also search by place names without granting location permission.
b) Advertising Data (Google AdMob)
We use Google AdMob to show ads.
* If you consent to personalised ads: Google may use device identifiers, approximate location, and app activity to tailor ads and measure performance.
* If you do not consent (or later opt out): We request non-personalised ads. Google still uses limited information (e.g., identifiers) for ad delivery, frequency capping, reporting, and fraud prevention, but not to personalise the ads you see.
Ad preferences and consent: We use Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) to present privacy/consent choices where required.
UK/EEA: we request consent for personalised ads under the IAB TCF.
Certain U.S. states: we show a privacy choices screen that lets you opt out of sale/sharing/targeted advertising.
You can open this screen at any time in the App under Settings → Privacy choices (this re-opens UMP). Your selection controls whether we request personalised or non-personalised ads from our partners.
Google’s role:
For advertising, Google is an independent controller of personal data it processes. See Google’s Privacy Policy and Ad Policies:
* https://policies.google.com/privacy
* https://business.safety.google/adsprocessorterms/
c) Analytics & Measurement (Google Analytics for Firebase / GA4 for apps)
We use Google Analytics for Firebase (GA4) to understand how the App is used and to measure ad performance.
* What is collected: Event data (e.g., first_open, screen_view, and ad-related events such as ad_impression, ad_reward, and ad_paid), approximate location (country/region derived from IP), device information, and a randomly generated App Instance ID / Firebase Installation ID.
* Why: To analyse aggregate usage, improve features and stability, and measure ad revenue and campaign effectiveness.
* Your control: You can turn off analytics measurement at any time in Settings > Privacy choices. When off, we stop sending analytics events from this installation to Google Analytics for Firebase.
* Role: For Firebase Analytics, Google acts as our processor under its data processing terms; for AdMob advertising, Google is an independent controller.
d) Basic App/Device Data
What: Device model, OS version, app version, and technical diagnostics needed to operate the App.
Why: To run the App, improve stability and performance, and understand feature usage at an aggregate level.
e) Referral & Sharing (anonymous sign-in, share links, and awards)
We offer an optional referral feature.
* Anonymous account: On first run, the App creates an anonymous Firebase Auth ID (no name/email needed). We use this ID to run the referral program and to maintain your credit balance.
* Share links: When you tap “Invite a friend,” we generate a message containing a Google Play link with a referrer parameter (e.g., &referrer=...) so that the Play Store can attribute an install to your invite. We do not access your contacts; the OS share sheet lets you pick where to send the message.
* Install attribution (one-time): On the first open after installation from a referral link, the App reads the Google Play Install Referrer string (a one-time read via the Play Store API). If a valid referral code is present, we send that code to our backend to award credits to both devices (subject to anti-fraud checks).
* Awards & records: We store minimal referral records (e.g., anonymous user IDs, referral code used, award amounts, timestamps, and basic device signals for fraud/abuse prevention and deduplication). These are kept only as long as necessary for program integrity and auditing (see Retention).
* If you don’t share or install via a referral link: No referral code is processed.
4. How Location and Advertising Work Together* Location permission enables “near me” features.
* Personalised ads only happen if you consent.
* If you don’t consent, ads are non-personalised (but may still use coarse location and identifiers for delivery and measurement).
* You can use the App without granting location permission (search by place name).
5. Legal Basis for Processing (UK/EU/EEA)* Provide core app features (maps, nearby amenities): Location (with permission) and device/app data. Legal basis: Contract (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
* Show personalised ads (if you opt in): Identifiers, approximate location, app activity. Legal basis: Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)).
* Show non-personalised ads; ad delivery/measurement; fraud prevention: Identifiers, coarse location, technical data. Legal basis: Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)).
* Analytics & performance measurement (Firebase/GA4): Event data and app instance IDs. Legal basis: Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)). You can turn analytics off in-app in Settings > Privacy choices (see Section 6).
You may withdraw ad personalisation consent at any time in Settings > Privacy choices. For analytics processed on legitimate interests, you can object by turning analytics off in Settings > Privacy choices (see Section 6).* Referral feature (issuing codes, attributing installs, awarding credits, fraud prevention): Anonymous user ID, one-time Play Install Referrer string, and minimal referral records. Legal basis: Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) to operate a fair, abuse-resistant referral program.
* Share sheet: We compose the message locally and hand it to your device’s OS share sheet. We do not access your contacts. Legal basis: Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) to enable optional app growth features you initiate.
6. Your Privacy Rights6A. United States privacy disclosures (California and other state laws)
Categories collected. In the past 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information from or about app users: identifiers (e.g., Android Advertising ID), approximate location (e.g., country/region/IP-derived), internet/app activity (e.g., app events such as ad impressions/rewards, screen views), and device information (device model, OS, app version).
Purposes. We use this information to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud/abuse, provide core app features, understand usage, and improve the App.
Sale/Sharing. We do not sell personal information for money. We may “share” personal information with advertising partners for cross-context behavioural advertising (for example, to show ads or measure ad performance across apps).
Your choices. You can opt out of sale/sharing/targeted advertising at any time by opening Settings → Privacy choices in the App (this opens our consent tool) or by emailing [email protected]
Under UK/EU data protection law you can: request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdraw consent at any time (this does not affect prior processing). How to exercise your rights: email [email protected].
You can also complain to a supervisory authority: in the UK, the ICO (https://ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113). If you’re in the EEA, you may contact your local data protection authority.
In-App controls and practical choices:* Revoke device location in system settings.
* Ad consent: update anytime in Settings > Privacy choices (personalised vs non-personalised).
* Analytics measurement: turn Firebase Analytics on/off in Settings > Privacy choices. When off, we stop sending analytics events for this installation.
* Advertising ID: reset or limit the Android Advertising ID in your device’s Google settings.
* Referrals: If you believe a referral award was misattributed or applied in error, email [email protected] and we can review/remove the referral record and reverse any associated awards if appropriate.
* Can’t access the App? Email [email protected] and we’ll assist (e.g., disable analytics for your installation).
7. Children’s PrivacyThe App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. Where required by law, we avoid personalised ads for users under the digital age of consent (varies by country). If you believe a child has provided data, contact [email protected].8. Third-Party ServicesWe share data only as needed to provide and monetise the App:* Google (AdMob & UMP): Advertising and consent management. Google acts as an independent controller for ad personalisation and measurement.
* Google Analytics for Firebase (GA4): Analytics/measurement; collects app-instance identifiers and event data to provide aggregated usage and performance reports. Google acts as our processor for this service. If you turn analytics off in the App, we stop sending analytics events for that installation.
* Google Ads (conversion linking): We link Firebase to Google Ads so that in-app events (e.g., ad_impression, ad_reward, and — where available — revenue values) can be used to measure and optimise campaigns.
* Mapping/Location services: e.g., Google Maps/Street View and/or OpenStreetMap/LocationIQ to render maps and geolocation features.
* Unity Ads (Unity Technologies): Advertising and monetisation (independent controller for ad delivery/measurement). Unity may process device identifiers and app activity to serve and measure ads in accordance with its policies.
* Firebase Authentication (Anonymous): Creates an anonymous user ID used to run the referral program and manage your credit balance. We do not collect your name or email for this.
* Firebase Cloud Firestore & Cloud Functions: Store and process referral records and credit/award entries (e.g., award amount, claimed status) and run anti-fraud logic.
* Google Play Install Referrer API: Provides a one-time string after install that can include the referral code embedded in the Play Store link so we can attribute the referral and award credits.
Each third party must handle data in line with applicable laws and their policies. Helpful links:* How Google uses data from apps: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
* Firebase privacy & data: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
* Unity privacy: https://unity.com/legal/privacy-policy
9. Data SecurityWe use technical and organisational measures including encrypted transport (HTTPS), access controls, and minimisation. No method is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.10. Data Retention* Precise location: Used in real time for features and not stored by us.
* Ad data: Ad delivery/measurement data (including ad-impression/reward events and any associated revenue signals) is retained by our ad partners (e.g., Google/Unity) in accordance with their policies.
* Analytics (Firebase/GA4): Event-level analytics data is retained for up to 14 months in our GA4 settings, after which it is deleted or only kept in aggregated form.
* Technical diagnostics: Retained only as long as needed for quality and performance (typically up to 12 months in aggregate form).
* Referral records (codes, award logs, fraud signals): Retained for up to 24 months to prevent abuse and to audit awards, then deleted or irreversibly aggregated.
* Install Referrer string: Read once on first app open after install and used immediately to claim a referral (if present). We do not retain the raw referrer string after processing.
11. International Data TransfersOur providers may process data outside the UK/EEA. Where this occurs, they rely on safeguards recognised by law (e.g., EU Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK Addendum, or adequacy decisions). Google’s Data Processing and Security Terms apply to Firebase.12. Updates to This PolicyWe may update this notice from time to time. If changes are significant, we will provide a prominent in-app notice before they take effect.13. Technologies We Use* AdMob SDK (ads) and UMP SDK (consent).
* Google Analytics for Firebase (GA4) SDK (analytics and performance measurement; can be disabled in-app).
* Mapping/Location services to provide core features.
* Firebase Authentication (Anonymous)
* Firebase Cloud Firestore & Cloud Functions
* Google Play Install Referrer API (one-time attribution on first open)
* No web cookies in the App. Third-party SDKs may use device identifiers for their stated purposes.
14. Your Choices* Location on: Nearby results based on your position; ads may use location signals per your ad consent.
* Location off: Search by place name; ads may use coarse (IP-based) region.
* Ad preferences: Change any time in Settings > Privacy choices. If you decline, we request non-personalised ads.
* Analytics control: Turn Firebase Analytics on/off anytime in Settings > Privacy choices. If you can’t access the App but want analytics disabled for your installation, email us and we’ll help.

If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.The App is operated by Find Nearby Ltd ("we", "us", or "our"). We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document.2. Description of ServiceFind Nearby is a free mobile application that helps users locate public amenities (e.g., benches, playparks, public toilets) and additional features that may be offered from time to time.
The App can be used worldwide, although coverage varies by country/region, and some features may be unavailable in certain areas.
The App may use your device’s location (with your permission) to show nearby facilities and provide features such as search, directions, and Street View imagery.
You may also search by place name without granting location permission.
Referrals and sharing. The App includes an optional referral feature that lets you share a Google Play link containing a referrer parameter so installs can be attributed to your invite. Referral awards are granted at our discretion and subject to the Program Rules in Section 3.2A. Licence to use the App
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use the App on a device you own or control, solely for personal, non-commercial use and strictly in accordance with these Terms. We reserve all rights not expressly granted.
2B. Accounts & Eligibility (Anonymous)
The App creates an anonymous Firebase Authentication ID for your installation (no name or email required). This anonymous ID is used to operate features such as credits, referral awards, and fraud prevention. You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and for all activity in the App on that device.
3. Credits SystemEarning credits:
You may earn credits by watching rewarded ads, completing in-app actions, or through the optional referral program. Credit amounts shown in-app may vary by user, device, region, inventory, or test group. We may change or discontinue any credit-earning method at any time.
Using credits:
Certain features consume credits. Current credit costs are displayed in-app and may change from time to time.
Referral program rules (Android only):
(i) Referral awards are granted only when a new device installs the App from your unique Play Store link and opens the App, and our systems verify eligibility.
(ii) Self-referrals and duplicate, automated, spoofed, or emulated installs are not eligible.
(iii) We may apply limits (e.g., per-device, per-account, per-time period) and cool-downs to prevent abuse.
(iv) Awards may be delayed, reversed, or denied if we detect or reasonably suspect fraud, invalid traffic, or policy violation.
(v) UI details (e.g., award amounts/timers) are informational only; server-side records control eligibility and award amounts.
Credit terms:
Credits have no monetary value, are not legal tender, are non-transferable, and cannot be exchanged, refunded, or redeemed for cash. Credits are associated with your device/app installation and do not expire (unless we reasonably suspect fraud or abuse—see Termination). We may adjust credit values, award rules, and feature pricing from time to time. We may correct obvious errors in credit display or calculation.
Ad availability & fraud:
Rewarded ads may be unavailable at times. We may decline, adjust, or revoke credits for any activity we deem invalid (including automated playback, incentivisation outside intended flows, impression manipulation, or SDK tampering).
